Our Story
We are a school that partners with communities, families, local resources, and practitioners to provide students and their families with the highest level of care within the school building and during the school day. Alongside these supports, we offer a rigorous private school education at a price that is accessible to all families.
After discovering the community school model and visiting innovative schools across the country that combine academic excellence with comprehensive care for both students and families, our founder became convinced that Amarillo was ready for a school like this, one that cultivates not only the mind but also the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of every child.
Today students in Amarillo are facing:
Familial struggles with mental health, poverty, and lack of essential support and resources.
Post-COVID behavior resulting in increased cases of violence and defiance in the classroom.
More time spent working on and looking at screens while time spent in recess and outdoor play is at an all time low.
Three school closings in the north side of Amarillo just this year alone.
These issues are seriously affecting educational opportunities for our north side students and families,
and taking a toll on students minds, bodies, and hearts.
At Golden Plains Community School, we knew there had to be another way.
Through years of vision, prayer, and perseverance, that dream has become reality.
Our school was born out of a desire to bring health, hope, and healing back into education, beginning right here on the north side of Amarillo.
Golden Plains Community School will be celebrating its inaugural year and opening its doors to families in August 2026.
